Singapore Airlines Boosts Seattle Flights to 5 Weekly

January 29, 2025

In a move that underscores Singapore Airlines’ strong recovery post-pandemic, the airline has announced an increase in flights between Singapore and Seattle for Northern Summer 2025. Starting May 30, 2025, Singapore Airlines will operate five weekly nonstop flights to Seattle, marking a significant boost in its capacity on this popular route.

Expanding the Seattle Route

Singapore Airlines has made a series of strategic decisions to add more capacity to high-demand routes, including the Singapore-Seattle route. Initially launched in September 2019 with three weekly flights, the route was quickly expanded to five weekly services starting in March 2020. The pandemic caused a temporary suspension of the service, but it resumed in December 2021 as part of a wider Singapore-Vancouver-Seattle-Vancouver-Singapore loop.

In June 2022, the route was modified to offer nonstop flights from Singapore (SIN) to Seattle (SEA), initially operating three times a week. Due to high demand, Singapore Airlines expanded this frequency to four times a week in June 2024, and now, starting in May 2025, the airline will increase the flights to five times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Singapore Airlines A350-900 on the Seattle Route

The route from Singapore to Seattle is operated with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft. On January 25, 2025, Flight SQ28 took off from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) at 10:13 AM and made a 14-hour 16-minute flight to land in Seattle at 08:28 AM. The aircraft used for this flight was a 2019 Airbus A350-900, registered 9V-SMV. After its arrival in Seattle, the aircraft returned as SQ27, departing Seattle at 10:35 AM and landing back in Singapore at 6:13 PM.

Singapore Airlines has ensured the Seattle service is equipped with the right aircraft, with its Airbus A350-900 offering superior comfort and fuel efficiency. This fleet also provides flexibility in the airline’s ability to scale up operations as demand for the route continues to rise.

Singapore Airlines Fleet Overview

Singapore Airlines has a diverse fleet that includes:

  • 58 Airbus A350-900s
  • 7 Airbus A350-900(ULR)s
  • 12 Airbus A380s
  • 16 Boeing 737 MAX 8s
  • 6 Boeing 737-800s
  • 22 Boeing 777-300ERs
  • 26 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners

With 159 active aircraft in its fleet, including the fuel-efficient A350 series, Singapore Airlines is well-positioned to meet the growing demand on popular routes like Seattle. The airline also has 56 new aircraft set to be delivered, including new Airbus A350 freighters and Boeing 777-9s, ensuring that it remains competitive in an increasingly busy aviation market.

More Weekly Flights to the U.S.

When the Seattle service increases in May, Singapore Airlines will operate 57 weekly flights to and from the United States. The new schedule for June 2025 will include:

  • 17 weekly flights to Los Angeles
  • 14 weekly flights to New York
  • 14 weekly flights to San Francisco
  • 7 weekly flights to Newark
  • 5 weekly flights to Seattle

This new capacity will help Singapore Airlines to stay competitive in the U.S. market, even as it reduces services to Houston starting in late March 2025.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Singapore Airlines

With a robust fleet, continued growth in long-haul demand, and strategic route expansions, Singapore Airlines is positioning itself to be a key player in the post-pandemic aviation landscape. The Seattle route is a prime example of the airline’s ability to adjust quickly to market needs and maximize profitability while maintaining high service standards.

As the airline continues to add flights to its popular routes, passengers can expect more opportunities to travel with Singapore Airlines in 2025 and beyond, ensuring a seamless and comfortable journey to some of the most sought-after destinations worldwide.
