Severance Season 3

Fans of Severance may relax knowing that Ben Stiller has confirmed that the long wait between seasons won’t be repeated in Season 3. Anticipation for the upcoming episode of the popular sci-fi thriller on Apple TV+ is already high, since the gripping Season 2 finale premiered on Friday.

Season 3 in the Works

During a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast, Stiller expressed optimism about the production timeline. “The plan is not to [wait three years],” he said. “Hopefully we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon.”

Season 2 faced significant delays due to the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes, pushing the release nearly three years after the show’s debut in 2022. However, with a dedicated fanbase and strong critical reception, Stiller said Apple TV+ remains committed to maintaining momentum.

The Effects of Season 2 and the Future

As the fired employees battled to expose the company’s sinister secrets, the most recent season deepened the mystery surrounding Lumon Industries. Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and John Turturro lead the cast and received considerable praise for their performances.

The Independent gave Season 2 a five-star rating, praising it for preserving the series’ signature balance of emotional depth and suspense. The upcoming finale, titled “Cold Harbor,” will be the show’s longest episode yet, running for 76 minutes and carrying a MA 15+ rating for its violent content.

Stiller Reflects on Directing and the Series’ Success

Having directed 11 of the 19 episodes across the series, Stiller spoke about the fulfillment he’s found behind the camera. “It’s made me admire actors so much more as a director,” he shared. “You can be fully connected to the crew and the storytelling.”

Apple TV+ has also grown significantly since Severance premiered. Stiller noted the platform’s increasing viewership, which has further amplified the show’s cultural impact.

What Will Happen to Severance Next?

Although Apple TV+ hasn’t announced Season 3 yet, Stiller said the writers’ room began production in November 2024. He emphasized the creative team’s commitment to delivering a compelling, comprehensive narrative.

Stiller stated, “You have an obligation to the audience that you’re making progress with it.” “It should continue for as long as the story does, and we have a plan for that.”

Many fans are hoping for a late 2025 or early 2026 release, so they should expect information on Season 3 shortly.
