Despite their significant impact, Oasis was once again nominated. However, they did not make the list, prolonging their exclusion from the Hall of Fame.

- The inclusion of Soundgarden, a band well-known for singles like “Black Hole Sun,” acknowledges their contribution to the grunge movement.
- The White Stripes: The garage rock duo, with hits like “Seven Nation Army,” also join the ranks of the Hall of Fame.
- Salt-N-Pepa: Their induction honors their groundbreaking position in hip-hop as the first commercially successful all-female rap ensemble.
Notable Ignorances: Oasis & Mariah Carey
The omission of Oasis and Mariah Carey saddened many, despite the fact that many cheered the inductions. Despite 19 US number-one singles and a career spanning more than three decades, Carey has not yet received the credit she deserves. This is her second missed nomination, which has stirred criticism about the Hall of Fame’s record with female artists.
Oasis, another prominent snub, were nominated for the second time. Despite their massive success in the 90s with hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” the Manchester band did not make the cut. Liam Gallagher, the band’s frontman, has previously expressed his disinterest in the award, calling it “something from some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”
What Does This Mean for Future Nominations?
Missing out on a nomination does not mean an artist is disqualified from future ceremonies. Nile Rodgers and Chic famously waited for 11 nominations before the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted them in 2017. Oasis and Mariah Carey can still receive nominations in the years to come.
