Nuggets vs Timberwolves

Nuggets vs. Timberwolves game: Nikola Jokić made NBA history with a 61-point triple-double in a thrilling double-OT battle. Despite his game-winning effort, Russell Westbrook made a costly mistake in the last seconds of the game, and the Nuggets fell to the Timberwolves 140-139.

A Historic Night for Jokić

Jokić recorded:

  •  61 points (a career-high and the most ever in a triple-double)
  •  11 rebounds
  •   10 assists
  •  53 minutes played

This was the first 60-point game of his career and the third 50-point game, but the Nuggets are now 0-3 in games where he scores 50 or more.

How the Nuggets Lost the Game

With just 0.1 seconds left, the Nuggets were clinging to a one-point lead when Westbrook fouled Nickeil Alexander-Walker on a last-second three-point attempt. After an official review, the Timberwolves were awarded three free throws. Alexander-Walker made two, sealing the Timberwolves’ win and sending the Ball Arena crowd into shock.

After the game, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone expressed sympathy for Westbrook, saying, “I feel awful for Russ.”

Anthony Edwards Takes Over Late

While Jokić dominated, Anthony Edwards turned up the heat in the fourth quarter. He scored 13 points in the final period and ended the game with 34 points, leading the Timberwolves to victory.

Playoff Standings Shake-Up

  • The Nuggets (50-27) are now just half a game ahead of the Lakers for third place in the Western Conference.
  • The Timberwolves (44-32) moved into a tie for sixth place with the Grizzlies, positioning themselves for a guaranteed playoff spot.

What’s Next?

With only a few games left in the season, every game counts in the race for playoff seeding. The Nuggets must bounce back quickly as they fight for home-court advantage.
