Lamborghini’s electric future begins with the high-performance Lanzador, expected in 2029.
The highly anticipated Lamborghini Lanzador concept is offering a glimpse into the automaker’s electric future. First revealed in 2023, this stunning concept will pave the way for Lamborghini’s inaugural EV, now slated for production in 2029. Initially targeted for a 2028 release, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann recently confirmed the revised timeline, stating the market for ultra-luxury EVs in their segment isn’t expected to mature until later in the decade.
A Revolutionary Electric Powertrain
The Lanzador breaks new ground with its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, generating over 1 megawatt of power, equivalent to a staggering 1341 horsepower. This jaw-dropping figure ensures the Lanzador remains true to Lamborghini’s reputation for outrageous performance. While specifics on the battery range are yet to be announced, Lamborghini promises a focus on both high-performance capabilities and long-distance driving.
To enhance range and performance, the Lanzador concept integrates active aerodynamics, offering adjustable downforce and tailored cooling solutions. The advanced Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDIV) system utilizes sensors and actuators to fine-tune driving dynamics, ensuring optimal feedback and engagement. The addition of a radar-based system, air suspension, and rear-axle steering further refines its handling, making it surprisingly agile despite its robust build.

A Unique Design with Versatility
The Lanzador’s design masterfully combines Lamborghini’s signature aesthetic with futuristic elements. Sporting a high-riding two-door coupe design, it features an elevated stance, dramatic fender flares, and massive 23-inch wheels. With a 2+2 seating configuration, this EV offers seating for four, a departure from the more exclusive two-seat layouts of models like the Huracán or Revuelto.
The interior exudes modern luxury and sustainability. Materials include:
- Sustainably tanned leather
- Merino wool
- Recycled carbon fiber
- Synthetic fiber from recycled plastics
Despite its minimalist appearance, the cabin is filled with high-tech features. The dashboard provides digital displays for both the driver and passenger, while a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters and an innovative control knob adds functionality and flair. Practicality is further enhanced by a spacious rear hatch with foldable seats and additional front trunk storage, leading Lamborghini to classify the Lanzador as an “Ultra GT.”
The Wait for Lamborghini’s First EV
Although the world will have to wait until 2029 to experience the production version of the Lamborghini Lanzador, the concept sets the stage for what’s to come. With its futuristic design, groundbreaking performance, and eco-conscious ethos, the Lanzador represents Lamborghini’s bold step into the electric era. Expected to carry a starting price of at least $300,000, the Lanzador will undoubtedly continue the brand’s legacy of exclusivity and innovation.
