Killeen ISD has named Micah Wells as the interim principal of Chaparral High School. The appointment was announced on January 29, 2025, by Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Fey.
Wells, who has served as the executive director for student success, steps into the role following the resignation of Dr. Nino Etienne, the former principal. With extensive leadership experience in Killeen ISD, Wells is no stranger to the district. He has previously held positions as principal at Robert M. Shoemaker High School and Rancier Middle School.
Over the course of his 16 years in Killeen ISD, Wells has also worked as a middle school teacher, coach, assistant principal, and athletic director. His diverse background in education has equipped him with the skills needed for this important leadership role.
“Mr. Wells’ leadership, experience, and deep understanding of our district’s high expectations make him well-suited for this important role,” said Dr. Fey. “I appreciate his willingness to step into the position with energy and enthusiasm.”
As Wells takes on this interim role, the district is actively searching for a permanent principal for Chaparral High School. The position has been posted both internally and on external recruitment platforms. The selection process will involve multiple rounds of interviews, with input from campus and district stakeholders.
“Chaparral is a thriving community of students, families, and educators,” Wells said. “I look forward to building relationships with the entire Bobcat family and supporting them during this leadership transition.”
