Rising Star John Foster Addresses Online Misinformation

John Foster American Idol clears the air on false rumors as Top 10 voting heats up in the 2025 season.

In a Facebook post, the 18-year-old singer—who quickly became a fan-favorite this season—took a moment to address the growing number of rumors tied to his name.

Not 24, Not from Kentucky, Not Signed—Yet

First and foremost, Foster clarified:

“I am 18 years old (not 24),” he posted. “I was born and raised in Addis, Louisiana. I’ve never even been to Kentucky, though I’d love to visit someday.”

He also shot down an odd claim involving country legend Dwight Yoakam.

“I’m not related to Dwight Yoakam, nor am I signed under Sugar Hill Records,” Foster wrote.

Foster emphasized that only posts from his verified page with the blue checkmark should be considered trustworthy, asking fans to engage directly with him if they have questions.

Tribute to Carrie Underwood Hits the Right Note

In his latest performance, Foster paid homage to Idol icon and current judge Carrie Underwood by singing her hit “I Told You So” (with Randy Travis). The powerful rendition earned him a spot in the American Idol Top 10 and even more momentum heading into this week’s round of American Idol voting.

“It was such an honor to pay tribute to the incredible @carrieunderwood last night,” he wrote on Instagram. “She’s been my voice on the judge’s panel.”
