Inter Miami vs San Jose match saw Messi’s Bay Area debut end in a thrilling 3-3 draw packed with drama and goals. The packed stadium of 18,000 fans witnessed a game filled with fireworks from the very first minute.
Miami’s Maximiliano Falcon opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the match. It was one of the fastest goals this MLS season, assisted by Jordi Alba off a corner kick.
San Jose responded just over two minutes later. Cristian Arango tied it 1-1 after a quick setup by Cristian Espinoza, making it one of the few MLS games in history where both teams scored within the first three minutes.
Allende Shines, Harkes Scores Late in First Half
The Earthquakes vs Inter Miami match stayed intense through the first half. Beau Leroux scored for San Jose in the 37th minute. But Tadeo Allende answered quickly for Miami, bringing it to 2-2 just seven minutes later.
Right before the break, Ian Harkes gave San Jose the lead again, drilling a left-footed shot from outside the box in injury time. The teams headed into halftime with San Jose leading 3-2.
Messi Helps Equalizer in Second Half
The second half saw Inter Miami push hard. In the 52nd minute, Allende scored again, tapping in a pass from Baltasar Rodríguez on a play set up by Messi. The score leveled at 3-3.
Though Messi had several chances, including a free kick late in the first half and a stoppage-time shot saved by Daniel De Sousa Britto, he couldn’t find the net.

From the moment Inter Miami arrived, San Jose vs Inter Miami became more than just a match. Fans lined up hours early, and a block party was held the night before. Messi’s wave from the hotel balcony sent crowds into cheers.
