Buddy Hield and Stephen Curry Dominate Game 7 as Warriors Eliminate Rockets
GSW vs Rockets: In a Game 7 showdown, the Warriors defeated the Rockets 103-89 to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals.
The game was a tale of two halves — Buddy Hield dominated the first, and Stephen Curry sealed the win in the fourth.
Hield’s Historic Night Powers Early Lead
After being scoreless in Game 6, Buddy Hield turned the narrative around in stunning fashion. He made nine 3-pointers and scored 33 points, setting an NBA record for most 3s in a Game 7.
Hield’s hot start gave Golden State a 12-point halftime lead, despite Curry managing only three points in the first half.
“Just trying to seize the moment… tonight was fun,” Hield said after the game.
Curry Closes With Authority
Stephen Curry, always known for his clutch moments in the NBA playoffs, scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter. He also grabbed 10 rebounds and 7 assists, providing a complete performance.
With just over two minutes left, Curry’s contested 3-pointer, followed by an assist to Hield in the corner, pushed the Warriors score to an insurmountable lead of 94-74 — cueing his signature “night night” celebration.
Warriors Outlast Rockets’ Late Push
Despite Houston’s energy — led by Amen Thompson’s 24 points and Alperen Sengun’s 21 points and 14 rebounds — the Rockets couldn’t match the Warriors’ poise. Fred VanVleet, who kept the Rockets alive in Games 5 and 6, scored only 17 points.
The Warriors game score steadily climbed as Draymond Green added 16 points and Jimmy Butler contributed 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.
“It’s that organization,” Green said. “We like coming to the city and playing in these situations.”
History Made in a Deadlock Series
This GSW vs HOU series joins a rare group of playoff battles. Both teams scored the same total points (728) over seven games, marking only the fourth time in NBA history.
What’s Next for the Warriors?
The Golden State Warriors will now face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the semifinals on Tuesday in Minnesota.
