Pfaadt Gets 7th Win as Diamondbacks Top Dodgers at Dodger Stadium
Diamondbacks vs Dodgers: Brandon Pfaadt made headlines Monday as MLB’s first pitcher to reach seven wins this season. The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-5 in the first game of the series at Dodger Stadium.
Arizona Jumps Ahead Early with Power
The Diamondbacks came out swinging. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Gabriel Moreno, and Geraldo Perdomo each hit two-run homers, helping Arizona take a 7-0 lead by the third inning.
The early surge came off Dodgers pitchers Jack Dreyer and Landon Knack. Dreyer allowed three early runs, and Knack gave up two bombs that drew boos from the home crowd.
Dodgers Struggle at Home
The Dodgers game was their fourth straight home loss — something that hasn’t happened since May 2018. The pitching staff has now allowed six or more runs in five of the last seven games.
Even Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani’s back-to-back home runs in the sixth weren’t enough to mount a comeback. It was the first time the Dodgers homered consecutively since the 2024 World Series.
Pfaadt Dominates with Control
Pfaadt (7-3) was nearly perfect through the first three innings. He allowed just three runs, walked one, and went six strong innings. He didn’t record a strikeout, but kept the Dodgers quiet until later in the game.
The key moment came in the eighth when Perdomo, batting ninth, crushed another two-run homer off Matt Sauer to seal the win.
What’s Next?
The series continues Tuesday at Dodger Stadium. The Diamondbacks will send Ryne Nelson (1-1, 5.13 ERA) to the mound. The Dodgers counter with Yoshinobu Yamamoto (5-3, 2.12 ERA).
